Aloha Performing Arts Company will hold open auditions March 5 and 6 for volunteer performers for its next mainstage production, “Inherit the Wind.”
The auditions are slated 2:30 p.m. March 5 and 6 p.m. March 6 at Aloha Theatre in Kainaliuy. Actors need to attend only one of the sessions. If necessary, an invitational callback audition will be held at 6 p.m. March 7. Auditions will consist of an individual reading (provided from the script), and then reading short segments from the script together with other actors. No experience is required, and newcomers are encouraged to audition.
All roles are available, and include: Henry Drummond, the defense attorney; Matthew Harrison Brady, a political figure and attorney for the prosecution; Bertram Cates, a high school teacher; Rachel Brown, a second grade teacher and Cates’ fiancée; Reverend Brown, a preacher; E.K. Hornbeck, a cynical newspaper reporter; Howard, a young man of 13; Melinda, a young woman of 12; Mrs. Brady, Matthew Harrison Brady’s wife; the town Mayor, the town Judge; and various other cast members of all ages to play townspeople and jurors.
Rehearsals, which will begin March 8, will generally be conducted Monday through Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Not all cast members will be required at every rehearsal; individual time commitment depends on the role.
“Inherit the Wind” runs April 15 through May 1.
